Another simple mod involves (case dependent) drilling a hole on mobo backplane nd/or case panel, and possibly adding another quiet 486 fan to bring a source of cooler ambient air directly to the back of mobo. This helps quite a bit on some case designs.

Another overlooked cocept (previously mentioned though) involves construction of a heatsink epoxied to the IC clock generator, (that 40 pin narrow rectangular chip below and behind near sound port area) sometimes allows significant fsb speed stability. That chip runs full bore continuously, and can subsequently get very hot. I actually used a thick 1/2" soft copper pipe cap that i cut slots into with hacksaw, then soldered smal fins across the diameter of the cap.

I don't know (being told it CANT will assure that i try, askthe wife!) if I will run 166, but I'll cool it till I do. A 700 duron 200 fsb wil run 150 stable with max cvore pencil unlocked runs 988 stable at 133 fsb, and hits 1050 at 15o mhz fsb, but not 100% stable. Will add active coling to that next, may start using some form assisted cooling.

Would be a real hoot to get one more short hurrah out of this board.

I must say I still question a co that changes monikers and bedfellows quarterly but this has been a pleasantly surpising board. Almost hate to give it to the daughter for college!

But then there is that brand new cool blue nf2 withh a 333 2500 with ALL the trimmings, just no mobo-yet! Just havent chsoen it yet...but soon. Its ready with raided 80 gigs, 768 twinbank memory, dvd, fast tdk (blue) dvd, AIW ATI latest pro, Hercules Sound Theatre etc, can't wait! Guess I gotta do the blue cathode, seeing as case is autmotive lacquer deep blue. First one that I redsigned-we'll have to post pic when done!
