I fitted a Pluscom U5P-VT6212L 5 port USB2.0 high speed adapter (PCI). It works, but only at USB1 speed. When I plug in my Hitachi USB 2.0 external HDD to this adapter I get a message saying that this device can perform faster if plugged into a USB 2.0 port.
Also, there is no difference in performance if I plug the external HDD into the original USB1 port on my system.
My OS is WindowsXP SP3 and the PC is built on an ECS K7S5A Ver 3 motherboard with BIOS Version 30811.
I have tried two drivers - 5.1.2600.1106 and 5.1.2600.0, and I have disabled the original USB1 in the BIOS
Also, I have tried two different PCI Adapter Cards in my system - Via VT6212L and Via VT6202 - and neither of them work at USB 2.0 speed.
Can anyone help me?
Is it possible to get this adapter to work properly with this system?
