Hi everyone. I'm glad I've come across this board. It's been really helpful so far.

I have a k7s5a Ver 1.x. Today I got an Athlon XP 2000 in the mail. I upgraded the bios using HoneyX and booted up, everything worked fine. I did notice one of the pins was bent on the new CPU, so I bent it back upright. I then replaced my old Athlon with this one, applied the thermal compound, and put the heatsink back on. However, when I went to boot up, the fans turned on (including CPU fan) but there was nothing going on otherwise (no display, beeping). When I put the old Athlon back on with new thermal compound, same thing. I'm hoping I didn't damage the mobo since I had trouble getting the heatsink off initially with the screwdriver, though I don't remember ever touching the motherboard with it (this is my first time working with processor/heatsinks/fans). I tried resetting the CMOS but same thing. I tried booting with only one stick of ram and still the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated before I take it in to a local computer tech.

Thanks!
