hi i tried to upgrade from my sdram 256mb to 512mb ddr ram pc2700 333 etc, and i had problems with rebooting itself.
in safe mode the memory is recognised in dxdiag and system but there are a number of 'direct' errors reported when running dxdiag.
my system is 1.8 athlon xp, win xp sp2, k7s5a bios 1.00. direct x9.0c.
i've put the old memory in to come back online, on running the dxdiag to get my mobo bios info, the direct music error came up again.
it does atleast say my radeon is connected, which it didn't with the other memory in, which perhaps could have been because i was in safe mode.
the reboot problem did make my monitor switch off before it rebooted. Is there any system or setup info stored on the ram that i could be upsetting by switching it without making some kind of changes? any ideas what else could be going wrong? should i test the memory or compatability somehow?
appreciate any help thanks
