The spec is as follows
Athlon XP-M 2800+ FSB 266 on L7s7a2 M/B Rev 1.1
40 Gb HD and DVD+/-RW with 512Mb DDR333
I will add another HD and CD-RW once I get it running.
On boot up I get the following message :
CMOS settings wrong
CMOS Memory size wrong
Press F1 to go to setup
Press F2 to load defaults and continue
If I press F1 I go to the BIOS screen, if I change anything and Save & Exit the computer will not boot at all and I'm left looking at a dark screen, if I reboot the computer the screen remains dark and I don't have the option to go to the setup screen. The computer when shutdown will restart itself, and I can only shut it down permanently by holding the button in for 5 secs. I can only get back to the original screen by clearing the CMOS jumpers. I have managed to load Win 98 by pressing F2 but Win XP when it tries to restart after loading all the setup files into memory just hangs with a dark screen.
When I am in the BIOS setup screens I am showing the following info :
CPU voltage = 1.632 v
DDRMemory voltage = 2.528
CPU Temp = 48C/118F
In the Advanced setup it says:
Detect CPU Frequency = Auto
CPU Frequency = 200Mhz
Auto detect DRAM Frequency = Enabled
CPU/DRAM clock ratio = [1:1]
DRAM Frequency = 200Mhz
BIOS write protect = Disabled
In Power management it says :
Power switch type = On/Off
Restore on PC/Power loss = Power Off
The FIDJP1 is set at pins 1-2 short Ratio by CPU
I have removed the CMOS battery and reinserted it to make sure it was in OK.
On reading other posts I thought it may have been a short on the board/case so I have removed it from the casing and the same problems persist.
I can go in and adjust the Detect CPU Frequency to manual and reduce the CPU and DRAM Frequency as I think they are too high and should be set at CPU 133Mhz, not sure what the ratio would be as the memory is PC2700, but if I change them I still can't save them to the CMOS without the computer hanging with a dark screen.
Can anyone help me, please ? Thanks in advance
