I haven't been able to get my java PLUG-IN re-installed since formatting and starting afresh - (12 months ago)... As you'll see from below...
I really need to be able to delete the java files, and delete the related registry entries... Can anyone explain the FULL procedure.
So, all I want is how to delete files + registry entries SAFELY + COMPLETELY So as i can install the plugin from afresh All I need is to be able to display java pages correctly in IE6...
The below was posted on another forum but I got no response. It explains why I want to delete and start again - Many thanks Blo.
Hi
I had to format my hard drive + re-install XP Pro, and because the java plug-in for I.E.6.00 is no longer supplied by windows update, I followed a link, downloading it manually from Sun Microsystems Unfortunately, I installed java webstart, (for developers), which I havent got a clue about and frankly, didnt want So I uninstall it
Anyway, when java webstart finished uninstall and was about to restart my PC my PC locked-up!
Having to manually restart using the RESET button, the entry in add/remove programs had gone, but I still have the following file - - Location - - C:/Program Files/Java/j2rel.4.2 03/lib/******/WMPNS.jar Could someone please tell me if WMPNS.jar should still be present or not and provide me with a Straight link to the plug-in download for XP Professional (not to a long list of links to the download) Ive been pointed to the download before, but there are so many different downloads on the page, that I get confused - - Although Im certain I have been trying to install the right plug-in on the last few occasions !
Can anyone help me out - or help me to help myself... Blo.
