This is not a K7S5A question but it does concern an ECS mobo and I can't find a forum for the board.
I have an, old second computer, an IBM Netvista 2284 70G which has been plagued with motherboard problems. Rather than use another IBM mobo I bought an ECS K7VMM with the intention of putting it in the IBM case. Everything is straight forward with the exception of all the front connections.
1. The IBM power switch wires are Brown and White - the new board is labelled with positive and negative connectors. Which is which, could I assume that it doesn't matter?
2. The IBM power LED wires are White, Orange and Green (3 wires) - the new board is labelled positive and negative, i.e. only 2 connectors.
3. The IBM HDD LED wires are Red and White and 2 blanks on a 4 wire connector - the new board is positive and negative (2 connectors).
4 The 2 IBM front USB connectors are completely different to anything Ive ever seen. I couldnt plug it in as the 9 and 10 pins are reversed and dont match. They are laid out as follows :-
1 3 5 7 9
Red White Green Black Blackish
2 4 6 8 10
Brown Yellow Blue Orange BLANK
The new board is standard, i.e. Ive seen/built PCs with a similar layout :-
9 7 5 3 1
No pin Gnd FP+ FP- Power
10 8 6 4 2
O/C Signal Gnd FP+ FP- Power
Finally, there appears to be no system speaker on the IBM case, presumably it is on the old mobo and doesnt require a connection. Are system speakers made as there is a connection on the new board that I could use if I could buy one?
Any help you can give will be of great value to me and Ill be eternally grateful.
