I recently installed SpeedFan and discovered that it has a screen, labeled Clock, that shows speed settings. Can I actually use this to alter the CPU, PCI, and memory speeds, and even select speeds that are not shown in the BIOS screen or these settings, thereby having a wider range of options and allowing some experimentation with overclocking? My current settings, in conformity with the stock specs for my system, are 133/33/133. Edit: my processor is an Athlon XP 2200.

Posts: 75 (10/25/05 11:37:34) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	assuming your power supply is decent enough and that your CPU will be able to take it (not to mention your memory also), you can overclock using SpeedFan. i recall that the clock generator is the longest - looking one (something--- ics or something like that, i need to go look again). i think it would be best, however, if you flashed your BIOS to a honeyx BIOS, since you would be able to change your clock speed in the BIOS instead of changing it every time you load windows (that'd be a pain )

SpeedFan is the easiest, and safest option, when trying to overclock the K7S5A It is recommended in the "Beginner's guide to overclocking the K7S5A", from this link... www3.sympatico.ca/oscarso..._K7S5A.htm I would highly recommend that you read that guide... it's full of useful 'tips' But before we even start to try overclocking anything, it would be a very good idea to find out exactly which "AMD XP 2200+" CPU it is that you have there. There were at least five different versions of the XP 2200+ made by AMD, not counting all the 'Mobile' and 'MP' versions. If you have an XP 2200+ then it is probably one of these... Which one do you have? XP 2200+ T-bred A L2 = 256K 13.5x133MHz = 1800MHz, CPUID = 6-8-0 XP 2200+ T-bred B L2 = 256K 13.5x133MHz = 1800MHz, CPUID = 6-8-1 XP 2200+ .Thorton L2 = 256K 13.5x133MHz = 1800MHz, CPUID = 6-10-0 SDA2200DxT3D Sempron L2=256K 9x166MHz = 1500MHz, CPUID = 6-8-1 AXMD2200FJQ4C Barton L2=512K 12.5x133MHz=1667MHz, CPUID = 6-10-0, 35w, 1.35v To find out for sure, run any of the programs listed below (all are free programs), to get all the pertinent details about what CPU you actually have in there, and what speed it's currently running at.
