Please help me I used this board with an anthlon xp 1600+ with no problems. I upgraded the cpu to an athlon xp 2600+ ( on you web site it says is supported) but I cannot make the board recognize it well. It says is a 1800+ or less depending on the fsb settings. I can set or 100mhz or 133mhz but does not get untill recognizing as a 2600+ ( that should run around 2000mhz). can you please help me sole my problem? thank you very much ( i tried also the custom bioses but same results) Help me on setting this up please!

I think one of the HoneyX BIOS will name the 2600+ correctly if that is important to you. After booting into Windows just go to System in Control Panel and it should tell you what speed it is running at? First, the old Throughbred XP 2600+... those works on FSB 133/133 Then the more "recent" Barton's XP 2600+ ... those work on FSB 166/166 And finally, the Mobile Barton XP-M 2600+... those work on FSB 133/133 For the first, the BIOS would say it's a 2600+ (2128 mhz) For the second, if it is running at 133/133, the BIOS would recognize it as a 1800+ (1529 mhz) And the last is rarely properly recognize, i've seen several cases showing a Mobile 2400 or even a XP-2000... So it sounds like you have the 166/166 FSB Barton XP-2600... In that case, it's running underclock... and it's very difficult to run at 166/166 on this mobo. Going back to the "Beginner's guide for overclocking the K7S5A" that I compiled (years ago...) I found: "You MUST HAVE an OC BIOS installed to boot to 150/150. It is the ONLY WAY to get to 150/150. But you can't go from a 150/150 boot to 166/166 with SpeedFan... the 150/150 setting is kind of like a 'dead end'... you boot to it, and you have to stay there, if you can get there." That was a quote from Milt, who was very knowledgeable and active in the forum at the time. I remember reading in the overcloking section of this forum some more info about 150/150... maybe a search will yield some info. Personnally, I used the 147/147 which was more useful, and with almost the same output mhz wise...

I'll switch it back to 147/147 while I look for more info on 150/150. To my mind this setting can't be stressing the CPU, but I thought at 147/147 it was overclocking the AGP and PCI buses? That was one of the reasons I thought 150 would be better, because as I understand it at 150 these return to normal?
