The problems include:
- Board completely unable to boot/post.
- Board sometimes unable to boot/post.
- Board posts, but does not detect drives attached to the secondary IDE channel.
It seems that there are combatibility issues with this NIC and some motherboard models. According to the guys at HardOCP and this page, the FA311 does not work on the Abit KG7-RAID mainboard either.
A good advice would be to avoid the FA31x when building K7S5A-based systems until Netgear (or ECS) does something about it (if ever).
If you are using a PCI card NIC, Please post the brand and chipset of your NIC you are successfully using, so we have a list of working alternatives.
