Hi folks,

I have recently purchased a mobile athlon 2500+ cpu. Using speedfan software i have it overclocked to 2053 mhz. surfing internet, general use temps are 42 degrees C.
watching divx or rendering video temps go upto 52 degrees C.
what I would like to know are these temps about normal/average?
I have a huge asaka fan spinning at around 4500...

AMD K7 900 and K7S5A overclock question

im also a noob at overclocking, ive been using this K7 900 n K7S5A for over 3 years and i think its time to overclock it, ive mange to overclock it using speedfan from 900 to 990 with 110/36.7/110 but beyond that system hangs, so i tried the bios oc and switch from 100/100 to 133/133 but it also hangs so i have to reset it through the jumper settings, my question is how come my system hangs when i swtich it to 133fsb? do i need to flash a new bios like the honeyx? and lastly how do...

I purchased an Athlon XP-M 2800+ (eBay) to upgrade my K7S5A v3.1. My previous config was an Athlon XP 1600+ Palamino (10.5x CPU multipler), overclocked to 150MHz on the FSB, using SetFSB and the standard ECS BIOS. Two 256MB PC2700 DDR DRAMS running 150Mhz x 2. Hi all!

I have a Duron Morgan 1300 running on a K7S5A Pro.

I know it is one of the worst CPU's to overclock, so I'm not looking for increasing it's speed, what I would like to do is to reduce it's multiplier to 10x and then set the FSB to 133MHz, instead of running it with 100MHz FSB and 13x multiplier.

Now, the questions:

- Will I have a real improvement doing so?
- Can it harm the CPU?

I have an ECS K7S5A with an AMD Sempron 2800+.
The CPU was named AMD 1900+ in the BIOS Post.
Can I unlock the mutliplier to increase the frequency without overclock bus and ram? Anyone have tryied to do this?

Hello all,

Have been browsing and searching and saw no similar topic to mine so here's my problem:

I've done the pencil trick on the cpu (all the L1 gaps).
Rebooted and went into bios to change the multiplier, but I can't get onto the line that says "Ratio" to change it. Shall I change the bios (dated : "12/15/2001 s" number "62-1215-001131-0010111-040201-sis375-57s5a-") ?
Do you guys see any reason why it's not working ?

hi guys,
i'm running my t-bred 2400+ (underclock to 2000) on ecs k7s5a ver1 and i'm using honey x 021209.
but i cant seem to get 133/133. i'm now using 110/110. everytime i use 124/124 or 133/133, windows freezes after 3 minutes or after i ran any application.
today i tried 143/143 and it all went well, small applications run perfectly.
then i ran DOOM 3 suddenly my monitor went blank and the system restarted.

Hi all, I've a Barton 2600+ 166fsb and a k7s5a mobo.
Once I've upgraded official bios with honeyX one and I've got a lot of fsb value and I noticed that at 147/147 my cpu work good but was underclocked at 2000+.
Not the best but was good for me. But the problem was that I can't work with my linux distro (MDK 10.1). I tried to reinstall my distro but something at boot froze.
I'd switched back to official bios and the cpu was recognized like 1800+ but I succesfully install my Linux...

I'm using the OC 030327 honeyx bios.

I have a few specific questions about trying to run at 166/166. I believe that I read some where on the message board that the K7S5A couldn't be booted to 166/166 directly. If it is possible to boot directly to this setting, do you see any problems running two PC3200 DDR sticks and a CPU with the multiplier reduced?

If you can't boot directly from the bios, would the wire mod work? If it would work, what BIOS speed settings should I use to...

Chipset modded
