Problems with K7S5A

Wont boot. Stuck on Post.

I recently updated my bios to 031108. Because my machine stopped recognizing my amd 2400+ processor. Now when it boots it beeps once and stops at checking NVRAM. It aslo wont allow me to hit esc to stop checking ram. I originally had 2 sticks of 512 mb ram pc2700, I went to 1 stick of 1gb pc2700 ram. No change. I went back to my original adm 1100 processor. No dice. My sytem as it sits is;
amd athalon 1100
350 watt power supply
250 mb graphics card
1 100 gb hard drive...

Hi everyone. I'm glad I've come across this board. It's been really helpful so far.

I have a k7s5a Ver 1.x. Today I got an Athlon XP 2000 in the mail. I upgraded the bios using HoneyX and booted up, everything worked fine. I did notice one of the pins was bent on the new CPU, so I bent it back upright. I then replaced my old Athlon with this one, applied the thermal compound, and put the heatsink back on. Video Card problems

I have tried a number of Video cards installed on the Board eg ATI AGP X1650 and also Nvidia FX5500 the board recognises both but will not install drivers (both 8x agp cards)I have tried all driver available no luck.I have also tried ATI Agp 9250 (8x agp)with drivers the card installs no 3d Graphics I had to go back to an Nvidia MX2 (4x Agp) for the 3d graphics to work could anyone shed some light on this problem much appreciated.

New RAM No Power

Hi, I hope theres still some activity around these parts.

Ive just dusted down my old but reliable PC and purchased some RAM.
Kingston DDR-RAM 1GB CL2.5 333MHZ PC2700,
I know that I can only use 266MHZ but I understand that RAM is backward compatible.
I also believe that the max for this MB is 1 GB of RAM so I removed the 128MB Infineon SDRAM and slot the 1GB stick in.
Now when I try to power her up I get nothing no lights, no fan, nothing, I swap the ram about...

I just got back into the computer thing after a slight hiatus and I was wondering something. I have the K7S5a mobo running at a Athlon XP at 1261.3 mhz. I wanna clock it higher for game. Exspecially Quake ET and some others. I either want to overclock it to about 2.0 or get another cpu. How can I do this safely and if I do get another cpu what one would you guys recommend? Thanks. Onboard sound output burnt!! Please Help!

Hey guys!
I was using the onboard sound of my K7S5A, when i had to mess on the cables that connects the output to the speakers, but i accidentaly touched the tip of the plugs and i was barefoot, then i felt a weak shock.
I didnt cared about the shock so i pluged in the speakers normally, but for my suprise, i didnt got sound anymore..... only a low humming.
The board still works properly, it boots, reboots normally with no problem.
So looks like only the onboard output is...

Wow, a great forum here...
Here is my problem, after enabled the CPU auto Doze mode in the latest AMIBOOT Bios (2004), the system was running a litte bit slow, and the temperature Raised. So I had to turn it off, after then I had try several cooling software for my K7s5a pro with XP-M 2800+, only the CPUIDLE could work, But at the same time noise came form my speaker...

After assembling a computer with the K7S5A (version 1.0 I think), I've had a lot of issues which I'm not sure where they stem from, and hope that you guys will be able to help steer me in the right direction.

Integrated Sound only partially works

My K7S5A motherboard with integrated sound seems to have a problem. There is sound to my amplified speakers from my line-out OK, but, I can't get any sound into the integrated Line-in or Microphone. Could this be a problem with the drivers or is the integrated sound partially broken. Any advise welcomed.

I have the K7S5A Motherboard with 256MB SDRAM, PC133 working fine in slop 1. I want to add RAM and ran the Crucial Scan which said I could add their 512MB SDRAM , PC133 to increase memory. Hi,

my K7S5A cant remember the installed processor-type. It works with a 2600+ and if i switch off the PC, it starts as a Duron 1400 on the next morning.
I changed the little battery on the board, but the problem still exists.

Mac Address invalid after bios flash

Mobo K7s5a Pro 5.0
First the quick overview:
1) bought mobile 2600+ on ebay
2) flashed bios to HoneyX 1209
3) reboot fine with Duron 1.3
4) installed new cpu, reset cmos, on reboot no post

5) after reading alot decided the cpu is probably just bad
6) reinstalled Duron cpu
7) boots fine but get a message at end of Post saying "Mac address invalid in APU and DMI hit F1 to Resume"

Hello!

System: K7S5a Pro 5 with the ECS Bios

Problem: the computer does not shut down, a DSL modem is connected to an ethernet card and the "power on by lan" causes the machine to automatically reboot instead of shutting down. When I switch off the DSL modem I can shutdown the machine.

But, the better solution would be to disable this "power on by lan" sh**. It *cannot* be done via BIOS setup, the option is there, but it cannot be changed from enabled...

Just Installed PC3200 RAM and now CPU is Underclocked??

I just swapped out 512mb PC2100 sticks for a 1gig PC3200 stick.

Went into the BIOS and selected 133/166 (133 for my AthlonXP 2400 and the 166 for the new RAM).

PC wouldn't boot.

So I cleared the CMOS, went back into the BIOS and selected 133/133.

PC booted!

But, the Athlon was clocked at 66 and NOT at 133 EVEN though I selected 133 in the BIOS.

I have a K7s51 v 3.1 running an athlon 1800 xp with xp pro...in the device manager it says this device is working properly but when I try to access the network or internet I get the error message that local area network cable is unpluged..but its not I have tried a different cable also...any ideas? could the onboard nic be bad even if it says working properly in the device manager?
